My Dear Sankara Pyne:

Please accept my blessings. I beg to acknowledge receipt of your Bengali letter date 4/11/73.

I am glad to learn that my books are being read in the Calcutta University and the National Library and others. Go on in this way distributing as far as possible.

You can still advance in krsna consciousness even in the office by chanting and giving some percentage to the mandir. Our philosophy is that all the fruits of our activity go to Krsna for His enjoyment. It does not matter what our position may be.

Soon I shall be leaving India, but I shall return in March for Caitanya Mahaprabhu's Appearance Day, and I shall see you then.

I hope this meets you in good health.

Your ever well wisher,
A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami.

My Dear Revatinandana Swami,

Please accept my blessings. I beg to acknowledge receipt of your letter dated October 27, 1973 and also the letter from Partha Das.

I am glad that you are traveling and preaching. This is your main business. For a sannyasi the more he wanders and preachers, the more he becomes experienced. The people benefit, he benefits, and from a material point of view he'll profit. So constantly travel and distribute books as much as possible.

I have received report from New York today as follows: "we have just broken all ISKCON records for the number of books distributed. On October 27 we distributed 13,486 books in one day. On Nov. 3 we distributed 13,127 in one day along with 10,000 lugdo's." Now New York is heading the list.

Regarding the auto accident, just hold a condolence meeting for Raghava dasa brahmacari and pray for his soul to Krsna for giving him a good chance for advancement in Krsna consciousness. Certainly Krsna will give him a good place to take birth where he can again begin in Krsna consciousness activities. That is sure.

But, we offer our condolences to a departed soul separated from a Vaisnava. Do you know that there must be prasadam distributed? After three days after the demise of a Vaisnava a function should be held for offering the departed soul and all others prasadam. This is the system.

Yes I have received reports of London that it is going on nicely. But one report is not satisfactory. That chandelier in the temple has been taken away by the supplier because Syamasundara. took it on credit and has not paid. I do not know if it is a fact but it is regretable.

I hope this meets you in good health.

Your ever well wisher,
A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami

My Dear Jayapataka Maharaja:

Please accept my blessings. I beg to acknowledge receipt of your letter dated October 26, 1973 and have noted the contents.

Your description of Sridhara Maharaja's birthday celebration is nice, and I thank you for presenting on my behalf a copy of Caitanya Caritamrta.

Regarding the Government's plans to construct a three crore tourist lodge, why not give the money to us, and we can construct? If this money is used for four such buildings as we have got plus a temple, this will satisfy the Government as well as our needs.

You should try to get them to invest in our residence building construction. Tourists will come due to our canvassing. The Government can construct, and we can manage.

I am glad to hear that the doll making is improving, so please continue it.

All blessings of Krsna are unto you. You are such a sincere devotee of Krsna, that He must be pleased upon you. I hope this finds you in best of health.

Your ever well wisher,
A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami

N.B. Regarding land purchase give me your scheme and I shall consult Bali Mardan and Karandhara, or we can consider when they come to Mayapur next.

My Dear Bhakta dasa:

Please accept my blessings. I beg to acknowledge receipt of your letter dated October 17, 1973 and have noted the contents.

I thank you very much for your invitation for your Govardhana celebration. I would have come, but I received your letter late, but I hope anyway that you have enjoyed Govardhana-Puja. The photos are very nice, and Radharani looks very satisfied, as I see in the features of Her face in the photo. If She is pleased, then Krsna is pleased, and all living entities are pleased.

I thank you very much for installing Radha-Giridhari. From my childhood I was very much fond of Radha-Krsna, and now my good disciples are helping me to open so many Radha-Krsna temples all over the world. It gives me so much pleasure. Now introduce Ratha Yatra. That was my childhood activity. I want to see my disciples all over the world introduce two items, opening Radha-Krsna temples and Ratha-yatra festivals. Do this under the protection of Guru-Gauranga.

Please do everything cooperatively for you will be happy, your countrymen will be happy, and all living entities will be happy. If one waters the root, then all the branches, twigs, and leaves are automatically nourished. That is the philosophy of Krsna consciousness.

Yes, I may meet with the Pope when returning to USA from Africa. I hope this meets you in good health.

Your ever well-wisher,
A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami

My Dear Govinda devi dasi:

Please accept my blessings. I beg to acknowledge receipt of your letter undated and have noted the contents carefully.

I do not know why you have parted from the Deities. Who has told you to do this? If you are at all interested, you can return. Your service was there. Why did you leave, and now you are whimsically asking for service. You never asked me before leaving. How can I guide you? If you act whimsically, nobody can make you happy.

In Honolulu tulsi is dying, and you have left this service. You introduced tulsi, and they are dying for want of water. Gaurasundara said to live alone, but our policy is to live with devotees. Immediately return and live with devotees and take care of the Deities and tulsi. That is our main business.

My Guru Maharaja condemned living alone in a lonely place. He wrote as follows:

dusta mana, tumi kisera Vaisnava
pratisthara tare, nirjanera ghare,
tavra hari-nama kevala kaitava

"O rascal mind, what kind of Vaisnava are you. In a lonely place your chanting of Hare Krishna is simply cheating."

And, Narottama Das Thakura says:

tandera carana sevi bhakta-sane vasa
janame janame haya, ei abhilasa

"To serve the feet of the acaryas in association of the devotees is my desire birth after birth."

Why I have opened this Society? I was living with four children, and now I have 4,000. There is no good in living alone.

I hope this meets you in better health.

Your ever well wisher,
A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami

My Dear Mukunda Das:

Please accept my blessings.

I beg to inform you that I am fixing my program for going to Nairobi from Bombay on November 23. From Nairobi I shall return to Los Angeles, so if you can arrange a meeting with the Pope then I can stop off there in Rome.

So please inform His Holiness the Pope that I shall be returning to USA via Europe sometime after December 1, so if a meeting could be arranged at that time it would be very nice.

I am sending a copy of this letter to Dhananjaya in care of American Express, so you can consult with him and do the needful.

I hope this meets you in good health.

Your ever well wisher,
A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami
